Tittle : Felita
Author : Nicholasa Mohr

About the Author : Nicholasa Mohr started her career as a grapghic artist before she decided to devote herself to writtin full-time. Her award-winning books include In Nueva York , El Bronx Remembered and Going Home. Mohr was born in New York City's EL BARRiO and now lives in Brooklyn , New York .

When Felita's Parents say that the whole family is moving to New York from Puerto Rico , her world is about to Change. Nobody but her grandma and her best friend GiGi understand her pain and how much she's gunna miss the placed where she was born and raised. Her father promises Felita that life's gunna be a whole lot better ; but in this new neighborhood things look different . Nobody's nice at all , theire always taunting and teasing her because shes different from them. Then , the family decides to move back ; but Felita sees that everything has changed , including her self .

An image i was able to make was in the sentence " ...But suddenly there I was surrounded by boxes and cartons packed tightly with just about everything i owned " The image i was able to create was : I can see Felita looking around her room and only seeing boxes of things she owened packed , getting ready to leave to this whole new world . This helped me understand that Felita might be scared of starting a new life , new friends and a new school where she doesnt know anybody or how they treat one another based on each others differences .

Something I connected to was when it said " Tomorrow we will be moving into a brand new Neighborhood " I can connect this to my self because i remember when I had to move from Dominican RepubliC tO over here . It was tough for me cause I had to leave my friends and all my childhood memmories behind . This helps me understand that Felita is also going through a hard time because shes gunna have to leave alot behind .

I recommend this book to people who like reading realistic fiction . This book is good because it has strong characters and is significant for its honest ,realistic view of an importamt aspect of the American Life.

When the army headed into battle , The other seventeen woman fled , leaving only Annir with the troops to face danger. Through out the book , Annie becomes known for her braveary and couragous attitude . She risked her life again and again to nurse wounded soldiers .

An image i was able to create when i was reading the book was in the sentence that says " Annie swallowed her giggles ay Belle's Startled look " The image i was able to create was : I can see Annie Laughing one minute , and then when Belle looks at her with a serious faced , she immidiatly stopped laughing . This helps me understand that Belle is a very serious person and Annie is friendly and silly .

A connection i was able to make was when it said " Because she was ten and it was her birthday , Annie's father came home early "  The connection i was able to make was : When ever my family and i have a family reunion , people always come early because its important. This helps me understand that Annie's birthday is important to her father .

I recommend this book for anybody who likes reading about wars and how woman were taught how to help wounded soldiers back on their feet .

Besides ten children's books, she wrote two adult biographies: Shy Hooks, the life of primitive painter John Kane, and Athlete of Christ, the life of St. Nicholas of Flue, Switzerland's patron saint, and several other works of nonfiction.

Peter Lundstrom never thought or believed he could be a hero. But when his small village gets held captive by Nazi troops , Peter and his friends had to slip past Nazi guards with nine million dollars in gold hidden on their sleds. It meant risking their country's treasure , and their own lives .

Did this story really happen ?

On june 20,1940 , Nearly a year after the World War II broke out in Europe , the Norwegian freeghter Bomma reached Baltimore with cargo of gold billion worth $9,000,000. The gold ? It was reported . It had been slipped past Nazi sentries by Norwegian boys and girls . For many years the story was believed , but over 40 years later, There is no proof that it ever really happend. WE DO NOT KNOW. But we do know that this story captures the courage of many children who , caught up in the war haved helped their country in time of great danger.

One image i was able to create while reading this book was when it said " Their father pushed back this chair and jumped up from the table. Peter and Lovisa were surprised because they had never before seen him leave an unfinished meal " The image that this helped me create was : I can see their father getting up from the chair leaving the rest of the family sitting there with theyre plates wondering what happend. This helped me understant that something really bad had happened because according to the kids , this is the first time theire father leaves an unfinished meal .

One connection i was able to make was in the sentence " But neither his father or mother would tell " I can connect to this because many times people whisper things to each other when im right in front of them and i would ask what you saying about me but none of them would answer. This helpes me understand that Peter must feel pretty frustrated when he asks a question but nobody gives him answers .

I recommend this book for any body who is interested in reading about the CiviL War and how alot of brave children risked their lifes to save their country.

Margie Carson whos Only 12 Years old along with her 7 year old cousin Ethel loves hearing stories and her father loves to tell them . In this book , Her father tells a total of 10 stories : stories about a flood that nearly washed away the whole town , stories about the time Elenour Roosevelt came into town ...ect.

One image i was able to create was when Margie said " TOOOOOT .  I dropped another glob of peanut butter .Then I breathed another sigh of relief " The image this helped me create was : I can see when she drops the peanut butter glob and then breathing a sigh of relief because nothing happend . This helped me understand that Margie was relieved to see that nobody heard the noise of the peanut butter glob falling .

A sentence in the book that helped me make a connection was " You know how it is when its summertime, its just about night , you want to have some fun--but you cant think of anything at all to do? " I can connect to this because alot of times i become bored and have nothing to do so i just sit around or watch T.V or annoy my brother. This helped me understand that maybe Margie feels that she has to get to a point where she has to cause evilish trouble .

I recommend this book for anyone who likes to read about adventures and non fiction books.

Tittle : Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen .
Author : Dyan Sheldon

Dyan Sheldon was born in Brooklyn , New York , and now lives in London , England . She's the writter of many novels and alot of them haved been turned into movies like the book " Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen "

Ive Only really read a few chapters and so far i Like the book because it helps me create images and in some cases i can relate to it . When Mary Elizabeth ( Lola as she prefers to be called ) moves to New Jersey with her family ; she has to addapt to this whole new Life . She has always loved being the center of attention . But when She meets CarLa Santini , The School's Born-To-Run-Everything ; she discovers that the role of resident drama queen has already been Taken. But, Once the curtains go up at the School PLay , which drama queen will take Center Stage ?

An image i was able to create when i was reading this book was : When Lola says " it was at this point the other people joined the conversation " The image this helped me Create was : i Can see how at the beggining , there were only a few people talking , but then somehow the whole class just started to get in i because thei were talking so loud . This helped me understand that this conversation must have been something big because it got the whole class talking about it .

One connection i was able to make was when Lola said " What do you mean this isnt important ? This is the woman who gave me life that we're talking about . Whose miLk fed my fragile body ; whose blood runs through my vains . OfCourse its important " i Can connect to this because i woulda have said the same thing if i was her. This helped me understand that She really Cares and loves her mom alot because shes defending her against her own friend and thats huge .

I recommend this book to teenagers who like reading about other teenagers to compare their life to theirs.
