Mock Up

  1. One thing I did well in my mock up was my main problem description.
  2. One thing I can do to make my project better is tell my other classmates if they can help me if I can help them.
  3. I think we should produce my project because it is helpful for others to have an outline for a book review.

Secrets in the Shadow by; Anna Schraff

I read this book Secrets in the Shadow by Anna Schraff. This book is the 3rd book of the bluford series and it's a good book.

I read this book and felt it was sad and marvelously descriptive at the same time. It's about a normal kid named Roylin Bailey except that he has no friends. Then one day a new student came to his school and he thinks that she is the most beautiful girl ever and so he tries to impress her by buying expensive stuff for her. He doesn't have that kind of money so he steals some from his neighbor that always was nice to him. He buys her the necklace and then feels guilty for taking the money. When he goes back to his neighbor's house he discovers something horrifying and now he's in even deeper trouble. Now how's he ever going to solve his problems when everything he does gets him in deeper trouble?

I can connect to this story because when I first started at a new school I was alone and had no friends. I had trouble fitting in with cliques that had already started until I finally found a group I can now call my best friends. I guess that's how Roylin felt when the girl came instead he wants her to be his girlfriend.

My favorite image from the book was when he was attempting to steal the money. When I was reading that part the image was playing in my head like a movie. That had made me see what the character was seeing and feeling.

I recommend this book to people that like realistic books about struggles through life or obstacles. Also to people who like the Bluford series.

Gone From Home by; Angela Johnson

I read Gone from Home by Angela Johnson. It was a good book that was separated into multiple mini stories that made me feel kind of smart because of how short the stories were and made me feel that I read fast.

I've been reading this book with my class for about a week and think its real good. I feel this way because I've seen or heard about similar stories that relate to the stories in the book and it makes the book seem realistic. I've only read about three different stories so far with my class, but I hope to finish the book and read the rest of the book.

I can connect to this book because as I said before I've heard about situations similar to what's written in the book. That's why I think this book is interesting.

My favorite image in this book is in the story about Sweetness. I liked the image of when her best friend describes how this time the clerk saw her and that's why she got caught. I liked this image because it explain that the last time she robbed the store she was too little to be seen, but this time she had gotten taller so she got caught.

I recommend this book to people who might want a short read. It's also great if you like to skip chapters in  a book because the book isn't the same and that makes it continuously interesting.

Slawter by; Darren Shan

I read the book Slawter by Darren Shan. This book is the 3rd book from the Demonata series. Darren in this book has continued on from what he wrote about in the 1st book (about Grubbs Grady).

I just started this last week and just think it's wonderfully written. I suspected it to be dull because it was a sequel, but it surprised me that even though it's a sequel to the 1st book it was good. So, according to what I read so far Grady has been taking care of Dervish. He has lived a pretty normal life right now, but that's about to change because of the curse that was brought on to his whole generation. Now he has to try to help himself as well as take care of Dervish.

One connection I can make with Grady is that he was really burdened by the fact that he had to take care of Dervish when he was like a zombie. I connect to this because I feel that too sometimes because of how my sister is so lazy tat I have to cook and clean and all that stuff just like Grady.

I don't really have a favorite image in the book since I just stared, but even without the images I still like the book.

I recommend this book to Demonata series lovers and just people who like reading good books. So I hope you read this book, but I recommend that you read book 1 first.

Song of the Buffalo by; Sherry Carland

I read Song of the Buffalo by Sherry Carland. This book is so interesting, but at the same realistic and informing.

I have been reading this book with my group and have not quite finished it yet. The book so far is about this girl named Loi and her life in the middle of the Vietnam War. The first scene is about how she has to move because of the war that has been happening for a while and has destroyed everything they own. She then has to live with her uncle and then has a struggle of getting married off. The adventure she has is sad, but the happy and heart warming.

One connection I made from the book is how she had to immigrate to other place because I had to do tat too and so I can connect to it. I felt like it was hard for me to move to another place and I bet that's how she feels as well.

My favorite image from the book was the american soilders that had abused Loi's mother as well as her. I liked that image because it really descried to me how rough and rude the American soilders were during the war.

I recommend this book to people that like stories from the past that revolves around a hardship through life because of a istorical event or their enviroment.
