The truth about Truman school By: Dori Hillestad Butler

The truth about Truman school

 By: Dori Hillestad Butler

The book I am reading is The Truth about Truman, By Dori Hillestad Butler.

This book was about This girl Zebby was tired of being told what to write by the school newspaper's advisor, so Zebby and her friend Amr start an underground newspaper online where everyone is free to post anything, but things spiral out of control when a cyber bully starts using the site to harass one popular girl.

When I read this book I didn't know it was going to be about cyber bullying. I just thought it would be this website that Zebby made to tell the truth about her high school Truman, but the website Zebby and Amr created, turn into a gossip, and bullying website.

When reading this book one sentence starters I used were Infer, I wrote; a piece of text I think has more meaning is "cool". In this book I think it means being popular. I think this because Zebby and Amr were trying to persuade their classmates that cool people go to that website.    (http://www.truthabouttruman.com/).

This is a good book to read if you want to read about cyber bullying and why some people do it. Its not like an article type of book but it is realistic fiction so this can be some reasons why people cyber bully. So I recommend this book to anyone that is interested in this topic.

Teach Me By: R. A. Nelson

Teach Me By: R. A. Nelson

R. A. Nelson is the author of the book I'm reading "Teach Me". R. A. Nelson grew up in Alabama. Nelson is also fascinated by astronomy; poets; love; and life.

Teach Me Is about Carolina "Nine" Livingston is what most adults would call "a good kid." She excels in school. She has one friend (Schuyler Green) who she's known since grade school, and spends much of her time thinking about the universe and reading poetry. For most of her life, she has lived a fairly normal existence until the day she locks eyes with Mr. Mann, her English teacher --- the split second when everything changes forever. Carolina's crush for her teacher Mr. Mann turns into something more than a crush.

When I read this book I thought it would be like most books about a teacher and a student. Like when the teacher flirts with any student from his class. But in this book it was more kind of different than other stores of teacher and a students flirting.

While reading this book, one sentence starters I used was Creating Images. One of them was, when Mr. Mann was explaining to the Carolina how he's sorry for everything that happened to her and how he knows is part of his fault. The image these words help me see how Mr. Mann fondly gave questions to why he did to what he did through out this book. This visualization helps me understand how Mr. Mann felt like it was time to tell Carolina the truth about everything that happened through out this book.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes reading about conflicts about a teacher and a student.

Book Post: I Hadn't Meant To Tell You This By: Jacqueline Woodson

I Hadn't Meant To Tell You This   By: Jacqueline Woodson

Jacqueline Woodson had an award for honoring her oustanding lifetime contribution  to writing numerous awards the her middle grade and young adult books.  Ms. Woodson is also the author of a number of picture books, including  The Other Side and Caldecott Honor Book  Coming on Home Soon.

This book is about twelve year old Marie is one of the popular girls in her school. When Lena Bright came to school the two girls are drawn to each other. Both Lena and Marie have lost their mothers. One top of that, Marie soon learns that Lena has a terrifying secret. Marie wants to help Lena, but she has an debate welther is it better to keep Lena's secret or to tell it?

When I frist saw the title "I Hadn't Meant To Tell You This" I thought that Marie was going to tell Lena a secret of hers and end up regreting that she told the secret, but  instead it was the other way around. Lena had a secret to tell.  Also I liked this book because it reminds me of the movie Hairspray. It reminds me of Hairspray because in Maire's school the students serggated their selfs with their own kind. In the movie Hairspray they didn't want colored people to be in Television with the white people. So when i was readind that book it remind me of the show Hairspray.

When reading this book one sentence starter I used was Creating Images. One of them are;  One Image world I found were when Marie and Sherry was staring at Lena when she came to the class. This Image word helped me see that Marie and Sherry was staring at her because they wanted to get a better look at who she is. Also  wanted her to be almost afriad to sit next to them. This visualization helped me understand that Marie and Sherry was staring at her because she was white and they thouht she was raggedy.

I recommend this book to anyone that is interested in friendship, school, and cliques .

Hit and Run By: Lurlene McDaniel

Hit and Run By: Lurlene McDaniel

Lurlene McDaniel is the author of the book I am reading is Hit and Run. McDaniel began writing inspirational novels about teenagers facing life altering situations when her son was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. Lurlene McDaniel wanted kids to know that while people don't get to choose what life gives them, they do get to choose how they respond. Lurlene's novels are hard hitting and realistic, but also leave readers with inspiration and hope. Some of her novels are: Don't Die, My Love; I'll be seeing you; and Till Death Do.

This book is about Analise, Laurie, Quin, and Jeremy. They all have there own side of the store. Analise had an accident. That led her to a coma. Jeremy and Analise parents always would go to the hospital and check on her. While Laurie and Quin decide to leave all these answer to everyone questions a mystery of who hit Analise.

The book catches my attention because of the title. Also I read the blurb so I knew it was going to involve an accident. Hit and Run turn out better than I thought to.

One of the sentence starters I used when reading this book was Creating Images. One of them was; some image words I found were when Laurie visit Analise in the hospital and was scared to even say anything. The image these words helped me hear how frighten Laurie was when she visited Analise in the hospital. This visualization helps me understand how Analise find out it wasn't her someone she new by the vibe Laurie was giving her.

By reading this book I recommend "Hit and Run" to anyone that likes realistic fiction or maybe even mysteries.

Thou Shalt Not Dump Skater Dude By: Rosemary Graham

Thou Shalt Not Dump Skater Dude By: Rosemary Graham

Rosemary is a professor of English and Creative Writing at ST. Mary's Collage of California. Graham first novel was My Not-So-Terrible Time in the Hippie Hotel. It was published in 2005. This book is her second novel she written.

This book is about Kelsey moving to California because of her mother career. Also Kelsey starts to fit in, in the California life when Kelsey starts dating C.J Logan. The guy that girls want to be with and boy want to be him.

So far from reading this book I think it's similar to another book I read that is called "Bloom" by: Elizabeth Scott. This book reminds me of Bloom because both of the characters Kelsey and Lauren because both of them started of a nobody in there school. Then being with there proberlar boyfriend, theym end up being the one everyone talks about.

When reading this book, one image word i found were when Kelsey was "the new girl" in her new school in California, she was sitting in the six grade table because she didn't fit in with the eigth graders by how they stared at her when she said was trying to sit in there table. This image word helped me understand how Kelsey feeled more conforbale with the six graders because they didn't have any cliques, they all hanged out with each other.

I recommed this book to any one that likes reading about teenager life in high school.
